Why does your product provide better Omega-3 absorption than other algae, fish or krill oils?
Fish oil delivers Omega-3s in a triglyceride form, which are not water soluble. Because of this fact, your body isn’t able to absorb most of the Omega-3s within fish oil. Krill oil delivers Omega-3s in a phospholipid form, which are more water soluble than triglycerides – but there is an even more bioavailable form than both of those. Our patented form of algae, Almega®PL, is the only known source of Omega-3s that contains both phospholipids and glycolipids. This “polar lipid” form of Omega-3 is highly water soluble and therefore more bioavailable than every other option on the market.
Why is your dosage so low compared to other Omega-3s?
Most Omega-3s don’t absorb as efficiently into your body as iwi algae and therefore require a higher dosage for the same, or less Omega-3 absorption. Almega®PL is clinically proven to absorb 130% better than fish oil and 50% better than krill oil.
Can I take chia or flax seeds to get my daily Omega-3s?
Flax and chia seeds contain short-chain Omega-3 fatty acids (ALA).
Your body can’t use short-chain fatty acids and has to convert them to long chain fatty acids (EPA and DHA). This process of conversion is inefficient – where 100g of Omega-3s from chia or flax seeds turns into 1g of bioavailable Omega-3s. Our DHA and EPA products are the most bioavailable form of Omega-3s on the market with 130% more absorption than fish oil.
Are your products tested by an independent lab?
Yes. Every batch of algal oil we produce is tested by a third party for nutrients, potency, contaminants and other elements. Our algae oil is tested at the time it is extracted and then again before it’s encapsulated and packaged.
What fertilizers do you use on your farms?
Similar to traditional farming: nitrogen, phosphate, iron and CO2. The main source of “fertilizer” in our algae’s growth process is sunlight. We also don’t use pesticides, herbicides, or any other harmful chemicals.
Are your products vegan?
Yes. Vegan, Non-GMO and Gluten-free.
Does your product include sorbitol or carrageenan?
We use sorbitol and carrageenan to make our shell capsules. They are not included in our algae oil. Our team is currently searching for new and improved alternatives for our gel cap ingredients.
Do your products contain allergens?
Our products do not contain any of the following known allergens:
Soy, dairy products, nuts, yeast, wheat, pollen, gelatin, sugar, shellfish. People with iodine intolerance should not take our products. Please ask your physician for professional medical advice at all times.
What are the active ingredients?
EPA in EPA formula
DHA in DHA formula
EPA and DHA in the Omega-3 formula
What are EPA & DHA? I see them mentioned a lot.
EPA and DHA are both fatty acids, collectively known as Omega-3s. Omega-3s are considered “good fats”. There is evidence to show that they can help ease arthritis, slow mental decline, decrease heart disease, and prevent depression.
Our bodies cannot develop Omega-3 naturally, however. We must get our supply from foods or supplements that are rich in Omega-3s.
Are you trying to replace fish and krill oil?
Our algae oil products contain more Omega-3s than any fish or krill oil. We believe our production methods are more sustainable, and have less impact on the environment, without removing fish or krill from the delicate food chains of the ocean. We believe you should have all options available to you.
Are the Omega 6, Omega 7, Omega 9, Polar Lipids, and Chlorophyll added ingredients? If so, what is the source?
No, all the items listed in the Supplemental Facts are naturally occuring in our algal oil.
What are the “Other Ingredients” in your products?
The “Other Ingredients” listed are other items that make our vegan softgel.
Do your products contain cholesterol?
All algae produce naturally forming cholesterol, called HDL. This is known as the “good” cholesterol and is found in seaweed such as nori. Our products are still 100% vegan friendly.
